#145 Cassandra Justine – The journey from physical yoga to something more. #hlwes

We have a cool outgoing yoga instructor. Her name is Cassandra Justine.  We will be talking about the journey from physical yoga to something more.

Through the vessel of her LLC, Choose Joy, she holds space for yogis and seekers to discover their dharma and tap into their power. She facilitates such transformation through sacred movement, energy healing, tarot, dream-building, poetry, and motivational speaking. She shares her message globally on Instagram as @cassyogaand via her Bliss Blog | Soul In Love. Rumor has it she is manifesting a world tour. Join her newsletter for weekly playlists, inspiration, and to hear about upcoming workshops, events, and retreats.

Movement is her first language. She was a mover; shape-shifting and exploring her boundaries, body, mind, and spirit. Perhaps this was why her mom gave her a yoga book as a young child. Cass shares, “I remember flipping through the pages and trying the different postures, my competitive mind loved the challenge,” but it was so much more than physical for her. She became enthralled by the mysticism of the eight-limb path.

A desire to teach yoga overcame her in 2009 as a young college student. The idea crossed her mind while in savasana at a campus class. The experience propelled her to enroll in teacher training at Moksha Yoga Center. She started teaching right away. After devotedly logging 1000 hours of study, the Chicago suburbanite was officially certified in 2010.

Sasha currently is at her dream job in Marketing at Lyft corporate in Chicago. She has been teaching yoga for 9 months. Nors Beatriz was working as a high end executive assistant from the time she graduated from DePaul University.  With a Degree in Communications and Journalism, she worked for companies like Driehaus Securities, Marex Properties, Fifield, John Davis of Taste of California Wines, until she was hit by a drunk driver and had a near death experience.  This lead her to her second act of doing healing work in Chicago for over 20 yrs. No she is starting a 3rd act, using Gems and Astrology to help people.   Her goal is to help people know that it’s never too late to switch gears and go for what you want.  Life is too short not to be happy and if you really want to try something new, just start now.

#137 Julia Burns – Making healthy eating tasty without the guilt. #hlwes

We have self made cook and personal trainer. Her names Julia Burns.  We will be talking about making healthy eating tasty without the guilt.

After years of floundering in a career she was unhappy with and consistently turning to her love of food and fitness to fulfill her outside of her life in the corporate world, she turned fitness into a career.  But in the midst of building her business, she found herself stressed, over worked, and eventually sick.  It occurred to her that something was missing – many things were missing actually.  Like so many people, she wasn’t sleeping enough, managing her stress, or taking care of her body and mind in a meaningful way.  

Working long hours, she would come home to an empty kitchen and just a few hours to sleep.  Something had to change.  So she got back in the kitchen to restore her health through nutrition and a passion for creating something delicious.  And thus The Empty Cupboard Club began in October 2013.  

It started with a small idea to share my food and personal training expertise with friends and family.  In addition to creating delicious, nutrient dense meals, The Empty Cupboard Club strives to create a community and conversation around food and fitness that re frames your viewpoint.  The ECC presents fitness and nutrition as a gift that is full of possibilities.
